OpenedYet shows the status of every tracked email right inside Gmail — in your Sent folder and in the conversation view.
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| ✓ grey | Your email was sent and is being tracked, but nobody has opened it yet. |
| ✓✓ green | Your email has been opened. Hover over the ticks to see when, how many times and on what kind of device. |
| No tick | The email isn’t tracked. Tracking was switched off, the recipient opted out, or it was sent from a phone or another app. |
The details behind the ticks
Hover over the ticks, or open the email in your dashboard, to see:
- when the email was first opened, and the most recent open;
- how many times it was opened;
- whether it was opened on a computer or a phone, and in which email app when we can tell;
- link clicks, if link tracking was on.
On the Free plan you see the first open with its date and time. Plus shows a 7-day history and Pro the complete history. See the pricing page.
Automatic opens keep the tick grey
Some opens aren’t people — for example Apple Mail Privacy Protection, which downloads every message in the background. When that’s the only activity, the tick stays grey and the details show “Apple Mail auto-open”. Why we do this.
