Accurate opens
Opens you can actually trust
Not every open is a person. Apple Mail fetches every message in the background, security scanners inspect new mail, and you look at your own sent emails. OpenedYet tells these apart, so a green ✓✓ means someone really opened your email.
Built into every plan.
What you get
We flag Apple Mail auto-opens and ignore your own views
Apple Mail auto-opens flagged
Apple’s Mail Privacy Protection downloads the images in every message, read or not. We recognise these automatic fetches and label them, instead of counting them as reads.
Your own opens ignored
Checking your Sent folder or re-reading a thread won’t turn your ✓ green. OpenedYet for Chrome knows it’s you.
Security scanners set aside
Company email gateways often open messages the moment they arrive. Opens that come within a couple of seconds of sending, or from known scanners, are filtered out.
Nothing hidden
Your dashboard lists filtered opens separately, each with the reason, so you can judge for yourself.
How it works
Three steps, no setup
-
An open comes in
We look at its timing, the email app it came from and the network it used.
-
We wait a few seconds
If the open lines up with you viewing your own email, it’s marked as yours and ignored.
-
Real opens turn green
Only opens that look like a person reading count towards ✓✓ and trigger alerts.
FAQ
Questions about accurate opens
What is Apple Mail Privacy Protection?
A setting in Apple Mail on iPhone, iPad and Mac. When it’s on, Apple downloads the images in every email through its own servers, whether or not the person reads it. To a basic tracker, every one of those emails looks opened. Read more.
Does this hide real opens from iPhone users?
Sometimes an Apple Mail user really does read the email around the same time as the automatic fetch. We can’t always tell the two apart, so these opens are shown as “Apple Mail auto-open” rather than thrown away. You still see them.
How does OpenedYet know an open is mine?
When you view one of your own tracked emails in Gmail, OpenedYet for Chrome lets our server know. An open that arrives in the next few seconds is marked as yours. How self-open filtering works.
Can I still see the filtered opens?
Yes. Open the email in your dashboard to see every event, including the ones we filtered and why.
