Terms of service
The rules for using OpenedYet, written to be read.
Last updated: 13 October 2026
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and OpenedYet (“OpenedYet”, “we”, “us”). By installing OpenedYet for Chrome, creating an account or using openedyet.com (the “Service”), you agree to them. If you use OpenedYet for an organisation, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms on its behalf.
Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.
2. The Service
OpenedYet adds read receipts and link tracking to emails you send from Gmail in your browser, and provides a dashboard, alerts, reports and reminders depending on your plan. The features of each plan are described on our pricing page.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use OpenedYet.
- You sign in with Google or with a one-time sign-in link sent to your email address. Keep access to that email account secure — anyone who controls it can sign in to OpenedYet.
- Each Gmail address has its own OpenedYet account. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
- Tell us straight away at support@openedyet.com if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use OpenedYet lawfully and fairly. In particular, you will not:
- use OpenedYet where tracking emails is prohibited, or without informing recipients where the law requires it;
- send spam, unsolicited bulk email, phishing, malware, or messages that harass, threaten or deceive;
- use tracked links to disguise where a link leads, or to redirect people to harmful content;
- remove, hide or alter the free-plan footer or the opt-out link;
- try to get around an opt-out, or track someone who has opted out by other means;
- copy, reverse engineer, overload or interfere with the Service, or access it by automated means other than the official extension and API;
- resell the Service without our written agreement.
You’re responsible for complying with the laws that apply to your use of email tracking, including data protection laws such as the GDPR.
5. Your recipients
Every recipient of a tracked email can opt out of tracking. When they do, OpenedYet stops tracking emails you send them, and you agree not to work around that choice. Respecting recipients is a condition of using the Service.
6. Plans, payment and taxes
- Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment provider Stripe. Current prices are on the pricing page.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
- Prices exclude VAT and sales tax, which may be added at checkout depending on where you are.
- If we change prices, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice. The new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, we may move your account to the Free plan until it’s resolved.
7. Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel at any time from the Billing page in your dashboard. Your paid features continue until the end of the period you’ve paid for; after that your account moves to the Free plan. If OpenedYet isn’t right for you, email support@openedyet.com within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund. Otherwise payments aren’t refundable, except where the law requires. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
8. The free plan
The Free plan is free of charge and has no time limit. Emails tracked on it include a short “Read receipt by OpenedYet” footer with an opt-out link. We may change the free plan’s features or limits with reasonable notice.
9. Your data
You keep all rights to your data. You give us permission to store and process it only as needed to provide, secure and improve the Service, as described in our privacy policy. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
10. Accuracy of tracking
Read receipts depend on the recipient’s email app loading images. Opens can be missed (for example when images are blocked) or triggered by software (for example Apple Mail Privacy Protection or security scanners). We work hard to filter automatic opens, but open and click data are indications, not proof that a message was read. Don’t rely on them for decisions with legal or safety consequences.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep OpenedYet running smoothly but can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. Gmail and Chrome are products of Google, and changes they make may affect how OpenedYet works. We may add, change or remove features; if we remove a significant paid feature, we’ll tell you in advance and you may cancel with a pro-rata refund for the unused period.
12. Our intellectual property
The Service, our software, brand and content belong to us or our licensors. These terms don’t give you any rights to them apart from using the Service as intended. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation. Gmail and Google Chrome are trademarks of Google LLC; OpenedYet is not affiliated with Google.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using OpenedYet and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, put others at risk, or are used for spam or abuse. Where reasonable, we’ll warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
14. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and we disclaim implied warranties. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or lost business. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €50 if greater. These limits don’t apply to liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
15. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country in which OpenedYet is established. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring claims in your local courts.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you by email or in the dashboard at least 30 days before it applies. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.
