Recipient privacy

Email tracking that respects the other side

Read receipts should be fair to everyone. OpenedYet collects as little as possible about your recipients and gives every one of them a simple way to opt out.

Built into every plan.

What you get

Minimal data and a one-click opt-out for every recipient

One-click opt-out

Anyone can stop OpenedYet from tracking the emails they receive — from one sender, or from everyone who uses OpenedYet.

No raw IP addresses

We never store a recipient’s IP address. We keep only a one-way hash, which is enough to recognise repeat opens and nothing more.

The minimum, nothing more

For each open we record the time, the kind of device and the email app. No precise location, no profiles, no selling data.

Clear disclosure

Emails sent on the Free plan carry a short “Read receipt by OpenedYet” note with an opt-out link.

Opt-outs respected everywhere

Once a recipient opts out, OpenedYet for Chrome skips tracking for them and our server ignores any opens.

How it works

Three steps, no setup

  1. A recipient wants out

They click “Opt out” in the footer, or visit the opt-out page on our website.

  2. They confirm their address

We check that it matches a recipient of the email, so nobody can opt out on someone else’s behalf.

  3. Tracking stops

Future emails to them aren’t tracked, and any further opens of earlier emails are ignored.

FAQ

Questions about recipient privacy

Is email tracking legal?

Read receipts are widely used, but the rules depend on where you are and how you use them. You’re responsible for using OpenedYet in line with the laws that apply to you, such as the GDPR in the EU. Our minimal data collection and built-in opt-out help. This isn’t legal advice.

What does an opt-out cover?

The recipient chooses: stop tracking from that one sender, or from every OpenedYet user.

Will I know if a recipient opted out?

Yes. When you add a recipient who has opted out, OpenedYet for Chrome tells you that the email won’t be tracked.

I received a tracked email. What can the sender see?

When and how often you opened it, roughly what kind of device and email app you used, and any tracked links you clicked. Read the recipient guide.
