Desktop notifications: turn on and troubleshoot

Make sure open and click alerts reach you, on Windows, Mac and ChromeOS.

OpenedYet for Chrome shows a desktop notification when one of your emails is opened or a link is clicked. Alerts usually arrive within a minute of the open.

If you don’t see alerts

  1. Check OpenedYet’s settings. Click the OpenedYet icon in Chrome’s toolbar and make sure desktop notifications are on.
  2. Check Chrome. Open chrome://settings/content/notifications and make sure sites and extensions are allowed to send notifications.
  3. Check your computer.
    • Windows: Settings → System → Notifications → make sure notifications are on for Google Chrome. Turn off Do not disturb.
    • Mac: System Settings → Notifications → Google Chrome → Allow notifications. Check that a Focus mode isn’t on.
    • ChromeOS: click the clock → make sure Do not disturb is off.
  4. Keep Chrome running. Notifications need Chrome to be open (it can be minimised).

Testing alerts

Opening your own email never triggers an alert — here’s why. To test, send an email to another address you own and open it on your phone or in a different email app.

Prefer email?

You can also get open alerts by email. Turn on email alerts in your dashboard settings. They’re off by default to keep your inbox quiet.
